Ms. Welle: loves reading, sunshine, her family and grandkids. Not necessarily in that order.

Greetings! I am Roxanne Welle, Media Specialist at Healy Jr/Sr High School. I have worked at Healy High for the past 18 years. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mother for 14 years before I was hired as an assistant in the media center space in 2001. It was while working as an assistant that I started taking classes to finish my degree in special education. After receiving my degree in special education, I continue another degree at St Cloud State University (SCSU) for information media. And finally, in 2015, I earned my Masters in Information Media from SCSU.
I love my job. Life doesn’t get much better than working with wonderful people, all working toward a common goal of helping young people reach their goals and potential. My favorite part of my job is talking books to students. During this process we talk about what books the student enjoyed in the past and see what topics they like or want to learn more about. I firmly believe it only takes one book to get a student hooked on reading…we just need to find the right hook.
When I am not working with students trying to select books, I am working with Computer Support Interns (CSI), technology and the high school MakerSpace. The CSI students repair and help maintain the District’s Chromebooks. Our media center space has changed and now includes green screens for video creation, augmented and virtual reality stations, spaces for students to tinker, create and explore. The library you may have known of the past has changed quite a bit. We are no longer a quiet place, but more of a collaborative working environment.
My life outside of school includes my partner David: we are celebrating 30 years this week. David and I farm near Lastrup and have beef cattle, a chicken barn and raise a variety of crops. We have four children: Amy (Ryan) Monson, Adrian (Betsie), Aric and Anna. We have two grandchildren: Blaine and Brianna. Our grandchildren light up our lives when we spend time together.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also like antiquing, traveling, reading, and spending time with my feet in some sand while enjoying the warmth of the sun.
My motto: Life is good!
