FALL PRACTICE SEASON FOR GRADES 9-12
WHEN: September 14th-October 1st, Monday through Thursday
TIME: 3:30-4:30 with weight room following at 4:30
The weight room portion is not required if you are in fall volleyball, but it is recommended.
There will be no games or competitions with other schools. My plan is to hold regular practices Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursdays will be intersquad game day.
If you are interested in participating you will need to sign up for volleyball on the school website, even though the season will not actually be until approximately March 15-May 15. You must fill out the parent permission form for the sport and sign up for volleyball in order to play this fall. The fee does not need to be paid until the actual season this spring. However, if you aren't paying the fee right away, I'm not sure you can sign up online. You may need to go into the district office to sign up if you don't want to pay the fee.
If you have joined tennis or cross country this fall, you will not be able to participate in the fall practice season. Feel free to come if it does not conflict with your tennis or cross country practice, but if it does conflict, (and I think it will most days,) then you must go to the sport in season at this time. This will not negatively affect your volleyball experience in the spring.
The activity bus will be available this fall! You can sign up for it on the school website.
Other requirements for the fall practice season:
-Masks will be required to be worn when entering the gym until practice actually begins. Hands need to be washed or sanitized at the beginning and end of practice. Masks will again need to be put on as soon as practice is over and anytime we are sitting and talking for more than quick directions.
-Locker rooms will be available to use, but we will need to stagger the time we are in there and give priority to those in season first. If you can avoid going back into the locker room after practice, that is recommended. You can bring your bag to the gym at the beginning of practice.
-You must bring your own water bottle because public drinking fountains will not be in use.
If you are not currently signed up for Pierz Volleyball 2020 remind, or know someone who is not signed up please use this code to do so: Text @eagk32a to 81010.
I want to encourage anyone who is planning on playing volleyball this spring to come to the fall season practices. We will be working on lots of defense and trying to quicken our offense. It also keeps you active, and provides an opportunity to enhance your volleyball skills. I am looking forward to a great season this spring!
