Transportation & Busing

August 2020
Thank you for your support and understanding in helping us deal with one of the most challenging factors in this COVID Pandemic: finding ways for all our children to attend school each day
If there are ways to have your child get a ride to and from school with any parent, relative, friend, neighbor, it is very much appreciated. It also has some benefits:
-It will make the ride shorter and possibly eliminate the 15-minute exposure period.-It decreases the number of children your child would be in close contact with for any 15-minute period.-It helps us lower the number of children on all routes.-It would allow your child to not wear the mask to and from school if you want that. If you will be picking your child up after school, please sign up for the Remind app with your specific group - instructions here.

We will dedicate the parking lot between Pioneer Elementary School and Healy High School(using the MAC entrance) to provide parking spaces for the parents/guardians who are able to drop their children off in the morning and/or pick up their child after school.
In-Town Students
Students who are in town (the city of Pierz) will be asked to walk to school with some exceptions. They are:-If the child is in Grades Preschool through Grade 4, AND you live on the West side of Highway 25 (Main Street) we are setting up 3 pickup points where your child can walk to and a Bus will meet you there. Once we have routes developed, we will contact those families directly to inform you of that pick up location and the time when the Bus will be there to load the children.-If the child has a physical disability and in need of special transportation, please contact us.We will reevaluate our options in November, after the completion of the First Quarter of School. If Covid rates stay low, and if we can find a way to assist those who may need a ride during the winter months, we want to help if possible. All Disease Evidence at this point says the best place to be is outside. So if possible, the walk to school is good thing for most all children.
Out of Town Students
We are redoing our routes with a target of limiting each bus to 50 children. That is two per seat. That will be a challenge, but we believe it is possible with the help of those who can transport their own children and those who walk to school. Since this will be a new route plan, it is taking us some time to sift through the survey data and create the new routes. We will call each family directly with their pick up time once that is established.
Please contact Tracy Voigt directly at: 320-630-3475
if you have questions about your Bus Route or if you changed your responses from the most recent survey and no longer need School Busing services.
