The Artners Enjoy Work and Family Life at Pierz Schools

It is with great pleasure that I can introduce myself as the business manager at Pierz Public Schools. My name is Tracey Artner and I joined the team in August 2017. I was born and raised in Hillman, MN. I graduated from Onamia High School in 2000, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Rasmussen Business College. I have worked in a school district setting for
15 years, the last five years in the business office.
My husband Marcus works at Healy High as a math teacher and coach. We have an 8 month old daughter, Addison. When I’m not at work, I enjoy gardening, fishing, spending time with my family, and attending school events. I feel very fortunate and excited to be part of the school community. I look forward to getting to know more families in the Pierz community. Please feel free to stop and say hi! Read the Artner's Full Bio
Superintendent George Weber adds, "[With longtime business manager Earl Athman retiring] We knew filling the position of School Business Manager would be difficult, as many rural districts struggle to find accountants with school finance experience. The financial complexities and sometimes very challenging, detailed rules and requirements of how public schools work would never happen in the private sector and make it such that few professionals choose that path. We are lucky to have Tracey in our schools. Tracey brings a positive 'can and will do' attitude to work every day, and also has a love-of-learning ambition that is rare to find. Tracey has the talent and work ethic to work anywhere if she wanted, but was willing to leave the great job she used to have, just to be in Pierz schools."
My name is Marcus Artner. I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago. I went to Wheaton North High School which was about 25 miles west of the city of Chicago. After high school I went to college at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana where I played baseball for four years. After graduating with my teaching degree I moved up to Minnesota and started teaching math and coaching baseball at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park. After one year at Park Center I decided I wanted to move out of the city and got a job teaching and coaching three sports at Onamia High School. While there, I taught 8th grade math and CIS math courses. I coached almost every level of football, boys basketball and baseball in my time at Onamia. I was in Onamia for 8 years before moving to Pierz High School. This is my second year here where I also coach girls basketball and junior high baseball. I am happy to be here and have enjoyed my time so far as part of a great district. I currently live in Hillman with my wife Tracey and our little girl Addison. In my free time I enjoy hunting, fishing and training retrievers to run field trials and hunt tests.
