Robyn Skwira--District School Nurse

PictureRobyn with her husband and children in Banff, AB, Canada
Hello all! I’m Robyn Skwira, and I am the district school nurse for all Pierz Schools, including Healy High School, Pioneer Elementary, and Holy Trinity. I’ve been a nurse since 2007, and this is my 3rd school year in Pierz.

I was born and raised in the Harding area (my father is the locally famed Swede Roscoe--'the concrete guy' and rock-chimney builder extraordinaire), and graduated from Pierz Healy High School in 2005. In high school, I was active in peer helping, BPA, FFA, band, German club, and softball. After graduation I attended Central Lakes College in Brainerd, and received a diploma in Practical Nursing in 2007. I worked for Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia as an LPN for 10 years, spending time in acute care, clinic, and informatics before coming to Pierz in February 2016. I received my Associates Degree in Nursing from Northwest Technical College in Bemidji in 2016, and then completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Bemidji State University in 2018. After stepping into my role as the district nurse for Pierz, I feel like I’ve finally found the place where I’m meant to be. I love everything about this job, my coworkers, the variety, the challenge, and of course, the kids-- all 1,434 of them!

My husband Jeremy and I were married in May of 2008, and lived south of Harding until August of this year, when we sold our home, and began the journey of building our dream home. Jeremy and I have three daughters: Abby is 15, a sophomore at Healy; Chloe is 9, a 4th grader a Pioneer; and Lexi is 7, and is a 2nd grader at Pioneer. In my spare time I love to travel (it's our goal to visit somewhere we’ve never been at least once a year). I also enjoy hiking (especially in the mountains), snowboarding, cooking, baking, playing softball and volleyball, playing cards and board games, and spending time with our family and friends.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been a part of this community my entire life. There is such a strong sense of community, belonging, and support here, that I couldn’t imagine living and working anywhere else. I’m proud to call Pierz home, whether that’s because of our sports teams, fine arts, or academics, the world famous Thielen Meats, or because of the kindness that can be seen all over town everyday of the week. I’m also extremely grateful to live and work in a town where the community supports our work here at school and values our kids as much as we do. It's a great day to be a Pioneer!
