What’s going on in the classrooms?
Room #102 - Staff Lounge “Hidden in Plain Sight”, sponsored by Peer Helpers and EPIC, open to parents/guardians only—no students will be allowed): Teens today are constantly exposed to illegal and harmful substances--this an opportunity to see what those actually LOOK like. This is a mock bedroom installation that will allow parents to walk through this 'teen bedroom' with an expert, showing you what to look for in your own child's room to see if you can find and identify suspicious items. Parents/Guardians only. No students will be allowed. Local law enforcement also available for questions & concerns.
Room #104 (Mr. Payne’s Room - Virtual Field Trip/Google Earth): Tired of the same scene day after day: central Minnesota, cold, dark, snow. Come and take a trip with Mr. Payne and Mr. Egan as we take a virtual field trip, and learn the tools that will allow you to 'fly' to any location from the comfort of your home computer.
Room #106 (Ms. Bemis’s Room - BreakoutEDU): Have you heard of the Break Out phenomenon, where you have to 'break out' of a room by solving a mystery? Come try it out on a less claustrophobic level as our English team sets up BreakoutEDU lock boxes for you. Join us for this interactive event and learn a bit more about what novels are being taught at each grade level.
Room #108 (Mr. Boman’s Room - Speech Team Presenting): Did you know public speaking is many people's #1 fear? Allow our Speech team to put you at ease as you enjoy some of their public speaking competition pieces, as well as learn some tips and tricks from them that will help you overcome your fear and improve your skills, or just sit back and enjoy their speeches. No pressure!
Room #114 (Mrs. LeBlanc’s Room - Registration Q & A): Stop by Mrs. LeBlanc’s room to get help from Mrs. Bueckers and the Math teachers with your 2019-2020 registration forms, class schedules, and graduation requirements/credits. Everyone is welcome!
Room #116 (Mrs. Strohmeier’s Room - Family and Consumer Science): Do you think sewing, cooking, and family science is a lost art? Not so at Healy. Stop by the Family and Life Science room and view student work samples from our Fabrics & Textiles class, check out how we are working (and playing!) with our preschoolers this year as part of our Child and Human Development Class, and be sure to purchase a bowl of soup prepared by our students in Foods Classes available in the Commons.
Media Center (Mrs. Welle - MakerSpace): Create something in our high school MakerSpace, play with virtual reality and more! Our award-winning Jazz Band will also be performing near the Media Center.
Media Center (Mrs. Gruber - Middle Ages Display): Students in World History have been studying the Middle Ages. Stop by the Media Center MakerSpace area to see the projects they’ve created to convey their knowledge.
Room #202 (Mrs. Patrick’s Room/Mr. Teske - 6th Grade Fun Night): Do you have a 6th grader coming to Healy next year? We would love for parents and students to come experience the high school in a relaxed atmosphere. We will be giving tours around the school, do some cool science experiments, meet your teachers and more.
Room #206 (Mrs. Stuckmayer - Pierz Gearz and Digital Media): We’ve got Spirit, yes we do! We’ve got Spirit, how ‘bout you?! Stop by our Pierz Gearz store and let Mrs. Stuckmayer show you the latest Pioneer-wear for purchase as well as some of the cool digital media projects her students are working on. Room #
Room #234 (Mrs. Horning - Costa Rica Information): Are you one of the 24 Spanish students going to Costa Rica in June 2020? Tonight is a chance to sign up for summer and fall fundraising opportunities, which include Brat Sales at Thielen Meats, Oktoberfest workers, LF Craft Fair Parking & más!
Room #126 (Mrs. Tax/Ag Room - Agricultural Displays, FFA and more): Check out the Agricultural side of Healy! See displays from Ag classes and FFA. Plant samples and sales from the greenhouse class will be available as well.
Wood Shop (Mr. Rossum - Laser Engraver): Stop into the Wood Shop and watch as students demonstrate the new and pretty awesome Laser Engraver.
Metal/Welding Shop (Mr. Gruber - Welding Demos): Our shop area has received various grants, allowing Healy to provide our students with in-demand welding technologies. Stop by Mr. Gruber's shop area and view the new equipment, with an opportunity to use a welding simulator. Students will also have their projects on display for you to peruse.
Choir Room (Ms. Hauan - Preview the Spring Play) Come see a preview of the Spring Play through this one-time only private showing for Open House attendees ONLY! Previews will be ongoing in the Choir Room throughout the evening. Just walk in (quietly) and enjoy!
MAC (Open to all - Apprenticeship Presentations): Will be a great session for parents, students, and businesses! A presentation specifically for employers from the area (Pierz, Little Falls, Brainerd and St. Cloud), will be at 5:30.
