Nicole Gross, LPN at Pierz Schools

Hello from Nurse Nicole--or Mrs. Nurse as the students call me. I was born in California and went to Kindergarten there. My family moved to Onamia, MN when I was 6 years old where I went to school and graduated high school from. I was involved in Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Band, Choir, and Arrangement. Because I needed MORE to do, I started working at Happy’s Drive-In when I was in 8th grade. Because I still had too much time to sit still, during the summer of my Junior year in high school I went to Basic Training for the National Guard. I was in the Guards for 6 years while attending school and college at CLC in Brainerd. While in college I also played on the team that won the NJCA National Women's Basketball Championship!
I got married to my husband Joel Gross (Ben and Ginny’s 10th of 13 kids). We lived and worked in St. Francis, MN for a couple years. Joel as a Police Officer and me as the secretary to the Assistant Principal. When our oldest Alex was born, we moved to the family farm and became dairy farmers. Joel also works for the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office. Alex is now 19 and working for Kenko. He starts school in December for Heavy Equipment Operator. Kalli is our only girl. She is 17 and a Senior this year. She is hoping to go to school to become a flight nurse (so awesome!). Jaron is 16 and a Junior. He’s the one you see leading the roller coaster and the cheering section at all the sporting events. Lastly, I had twins--Travis and Troy. They are almost 15 and Freshman.
When the twins were 3 or 4 I went back to CLC to earn my LPN degree. I milked in the morning, went to school and milked at night. With 5 little kids it was quite busy, but we got it done! I worked in the Onamia Nursing Home for a couple years and then moved to the clinic. I mainly worked at the clinic in Hillman (just a couple miles from home). I still work there in the summer and the clinic in Garrison on some Saturdays. I have been working at the school now for 5 years and absolutely love it!
You can often find me at school at a variety of events. This year I started line judging at the volleyball games. I am usually watching football, basketball, baseball or working at the track meets. I also work at the speech meets with our incredible speech team! They are amazing and I encourage everyone to come to a meet and experience the fun.
Biologically, I have 5 kids-- but in my heart I have about 1400! I enjoy working in such a supportive community. Everyone knows everyone around them. The support is unbelievable. Go Pioneers!
