Pierz Schools hopes to bring 5-12 students back into our Hybrid Learning Model starting Thursday, December 17. Students would attend school in the hybrid model on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday, December 17, 18, 21, 22.
There will be no school for any students, including Distance Learning students, on Wednesday, December 23.
This decision is based upon recent data that shows our cases have decreased to the levels we were at when we went into Distance Learning. We will need further evidence this is part of a downward trend and evidence that we have the capacity to provide enough teachers and staff to support the return of these students in the hybrid model. We will meet with county public health staff on Thursday, December 10. We will be looking at Covid data points for Thursday, December 10 and Monday, December 14 to help determine next steps. We will officially notify parents regarding this decision Monday, December 14.
We will need communication with the MDE / MDH Regional Support Team assigned to our area. If any school moves to a “less restrictive” learning model, we are asked to consult with them.
If parents prefer to keep their child at home and stay in Distance Learning through the Holiday break we will support that decision and not mark those children absent as long as they are in attendance virtually.
If we make this move to Hybrid and can sustain it, parents can assume that is the model we will start the year in as we come back after the Holiday break. That decision is contingent upon case rate data over the Holidays.
As we look at data, it is important for us to have accurate information from families regarding student exposures, symptoms or positive cases. Click here to report to the nurse’s office any relevant new information regarding your students.
