BYOD (Bring Your Own Device): Students have the option to bring their own laptop or Chromebook (no iPads) in lieu of using the district provided Chromebook. If you would like to choose this option, please read the BYOD Form below (making sure your student's device complies with the district technology requirements, fill out, and return to the district office. Students bringing their own computer/Chromebook will need to bring their device to the media center for inspection the 1st day of classes.
- Read the Chromebook Policy & Discipline Policy located under the Chromebook Policies and Forms tab on this page.
- Fill out the online Chromebook Signature Page, accepting all policies.
- If purchasing the optional insurance, all payments can be made online. Insurance rates take into consideration the year/make/model of each grade's Chromebook. If you've paid in the past for multi-year coverage, you are still covered:
- 7th grade: one-time payment of $55 (2 year policy/2 year battery extension)
- 8th and 12th grade students will pay $10 for each repair unless malicious
- 9th grade: one-time payment of $79 (4 year policy/2 year battery extension)
- 10th grade: one-time payment of $59 (3 year policy/2 year battery extension)
- 11th grade: annual payment of $20.
- IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PAY ONLINE, YOU CAN PAY CASH/CHECK IN THE DISTRICT OFFICE.

How to Work Offline in Google DocsSee video below. Note - when working offline, be sure to have the Google Document that you are working on OPEN when you leave school and LEAVE IT OPEN after you're done working on it at home. Once you come back to wi-fi, it will sync up and save provided you haven't closed the doc or logged of your Chromebook. Q: My screen has lines in it/is broken/is missing screws/doesn't hold a charge/missing keys/cracked the case etc, etc, etc...What should I do?
A: Media Center - come on down! Our CSI (computer science interns) students will take a look at it and repair if they can. We will log the incident and proceed as needed according to your insurance and the policy.

Students in grades 10-12 have the opportunity to take the Computer Support Intern course (CSI)
Course Description: The Pierz CSI Course is a hands-on study of technology integration, problem solving and Chromebook repair. Students will be required to assess problems and define the best approach to addressing or solving the problem. In addition this course has a “20% time project,” which is derived from Google’s 20% time workplace culture. Students will propose projects they choose to do during 20% of class time. Possible projects include but are not limited to: software certification, app development, code programming, social media maintenance, Makerspace development, 3D printing, job aide development and working First Stop. Class size: 10 each semester . |
