Brittany Bueckers, School Counselor at Healy

Hello Pioneers! My name is Brittany Bueckers, and I am a School Counselor at Healy High School. I work primarily with students in grades 9-12, supporting them in the areas of academics, social/emotional well-being, and career and college preparation.
I grew up in White Bear Lake and am a 2008 graduate of Mahtomedi High School. I attended St. Cloud State University (SCSU) immediately after high school, earning my Bachelor of Science in Community Psychology in 2012 and my Master of Science in School Counseling K-12 in 2014. I became a licensed school counselor because I have always had a passion for working with
teenagers, and I love that I get to be with them all day, every day. My goal each day is to build relationships with students and to be an advocate for them.
High school counselors are often thought of as the “scheduling people”, but I do so much more than that. Yes, I create student schedules and monitor graduation requirements for our students, but I also help students navigate postsecondary opportunities (both career and college), do individual counseling, academic counseling, college and career curriculum development, testing coordination, and am a part of several leadership teams in our building. The one thing that I really want students to leave with upon graduation, is that I will support them no matter what their dreams are for their future. Whether they are thinking about buying their own farm, becoming an electrician, teacher, nurse, lawyer, running their own business, or working alongside family members, I will always support them.
In addition to my job here in Pierz, I am also active in several organizations outside of school. I am the President of the Central Minnesota School Counselor Association, an organization consisting of over two-hundred licensed school counselors in Central Minnesota. I am also a Board Member for the Minnesota School Counselor Association, and am a member of the American School Counselor Association. Through these positions, I am very active in advocating for our students and the students of Minnesota. We meet with legislators regularly and provide invaluable professional development opportunities for school counselors across Minnesota.
I am married to my best friend, Matt. We have two sons, Benjamin (3) and Andrew (1). We live in Sauk Rapids, the community my husband grew up in. We are very fortunate to live close to family, while also being close enough for me to come to the place I love every day for work. The past five years I have spent working in Pierz has been everything I could ask for. I feel so blessed to have amazing co-workers, work with incredibly talented students, and to be a part of this
great community.
