Becky Ruprecht - Title I/Special Education Teacher, Pioneer Elementary and Holy Trinity

Hi! I'm Becky Ruprecht, Title I/Special education teacher at Pioneer and Holy Trinity. This is my 7th year here working with students who need help in reading, math and/or social skills. My team consists of Tanya Thielen & Annette Magstadt along with the other amazing special education and speech staff. I love helping children learn, especially those who struggle. I was in title in 1st and 2nd grade and remember that special teacher, Mrs. Peach, who helped me learn to read. Her patience and hard work inspired me to volunteer with her during high school and I went on to become a special education and elementary teacher.
I went to school in Sartell and enjoyed many activities. I played clarinet in band & marching band from 5th grade through College, even getting to travel to the Bahamas!!! I was also in choir, but am a little tone deaf! I also did all the backstage stuff for our plays in middle, high school and college, working in the costume shop at St. Bens. I was even a wrestling cheerleader for 2 years in high school!
After graduating from St. Bens, I went to teach in St. Paul and ended up back in Sartell, where I went to school. I heard about Pierz from a fellow teacher and how they needed a special education/title teacher. I applied and have LOVED it ever since. The staff truly gets along as a family: taking care of one another, celebrating successes and supporting one another during tough times.
Principal Tom Otte on Becky's work to improve literacy at both Pioneer and Holy Trinity: "Becky has a unique position as both a special education teacher and a Title I teacher. She spends her mornings at Pioneer working with children in Title I and our SUCCESS program and she spends her afternoons providing special education and Title I services to children at Holy Trinity. She is also a building literacy leader and works with grades 4-6 as our building expert on STAR assessments. This means she schedules the STAR benchmark monitoring and works with the data to help teachers make sense of it and implement instructional adjustments to meet the needs of children. Becky has also worked as a play director and assistant for a number of years. Becky's schedule is challenging, yet she approaches every day with grace, confidence, and skill."
When I'm not working with my students at school, I love to read, ride bike, sleep and relax. I became a new mommy last May and since then it's been so much fun seeing our little miracle, Rhiannon Marie, grow and discover the world around her.
