Miss Amy Jindra, English Teacher at Healy

Hey everyone-- my name is Amy Jindra and this is my fifth year being an English teacher at Pierz Healy High. During my first couple of years here, I worked with the middle school students in 7th and 8th grade and have transitioned into the high school world now. In addition to teaching, I work with our MN Honor Society students giving back to the community, and I help coach our Speech team. My passion is reading, and I try to instill that same enthusiasm in my students by incorporating a variety of stories into the curriculum as well as connecting them with books based on what they enjoy.
I grew up in Zimmerman, not too far from here, and my parents still live there. I have two brother who have gifted me with six little nieces and nephews and it has been an amazing experience watching them grow up. I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for my undergraduate degree and double majored in Teaching English and Literature Analysis. Straight out of college, I accepted the position here in Pierz and have been loving it ever since!
Outside of the classroom, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with our senior high Spanish students twice and this naturally is the highlight of my summer. Chaperoning summer camp with the EPIC students was another crazy fun adventure. In addition, I am a part of our High School Tech committee providing trainings for our teachers and connecting them to new resources. On a personal note, I live in St. Cloud and spend my free time catching the latest blockbusters out in the theater and taking classes at SCSU working towards finishing my masters!
